Consider if the magazines, books and films you buy, watch and read portray women in a respectful way. The media we’re exposed to affects – often subconsciously – our attitudes to women, and it’s unhelpful to expose ourselves to material that is going to affect our opinion of women in a negative way. The media industry produces more of what people want to see – show that you don’t want to see things that portray women negatively by refusing to buy them.
The No More Page 3 Campaign proved that people standing up to the objectification of women in the media works. Get involved in other campaigns to make other instances of gender inequality in the media a thing of the past.
