Take a pledge and act on it
These are two wonderful organisations which are based around a pledge to end gender inequality.
Take the pledge and explore their resources sections to learn about simple steps you can take to act on it, from taking five minutes to tweet your pledge to organising a event to raise awareness about gender injustice.
White Ribbon Campaign
The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement of men and boys working to end male violence against women and girls. Founded in 1991 in response to a brutal mass murder of female students in Canada, White Ribbon is now active in over 60 countries, promoting gender equality, healthy relationships and positive masculinity.
They ask men and boys to make a commitment never to commit, condone, or remain silent about men's violence against women in all its forms.
Their website has some great ideas of how to get involved, ranging from ordering a white ribbon to wear in support of the campaign, to writing to your MP, to organising an event in your workplace.
He For She
Founded in 2014 by UN Women, He For She is based on the belief that gender inequality affects everyone and it seeks to involve men and boys in a movement that has often been viewed as a ‘women’s struggle for women’.
They ask people to pledge the following: I believe that everyone is born free and equal. I will take action against gender bias, discrimination and violence to bring the benefits of equality to us all.
In their Take Action section, you can choose an equality issue close to your heart, such as violence against women or education, and discover specific steps you can take to engage with this issue and action kits to help you plan your campaign.
