The Istanbul Convention sets minimum standards for governments to meet when tackling violence against women and it is the most comprehensive legal framework that exists to tackle such violence. Human Rights Watch have called it ‘ground-breaking’ and UN Women have named it a ‘gold standard’ in the fight to end violence against women. So far, over 22 countries have ratified the convention, including Turkey, Serbia and Albania – but the UK hasn't.
IC Change campaign to ensure it will be ratified in the UK, which would mean a lasting national commitment to tackling violence against women and an increase women’s safety.
Sign this petition by IC Change to get the UK government to ratify it and write to your MP ask them to support the bill about the convention.
