We are First Man Standing.
Welcome to First Man Standing (FMS). We are passionate about seeing men stand up to end violence against women in all its forms.
Initiatives like the Everyday Sexism Project* have used stories to highlight the problem of sexism in societies around the world. We want to use stories to work out how we can be part of a solution, building on the work which has been done to raise awareness about sexism with a call to men to challenge gender inequality in all aspects of their daily lives.
We invite both women and men to post stories about men who have stood up for women’s equality. We hope these positive examples will inspire others to challenge sexism and to show them concrete ways to do so.
In our Resources section, you will also find a selection of quotes, statistics, websites and videos to help you find out more about this universal issue and what can be done to tackle it.
* Please note that some of the posts on the Everyday Sexism site contain language that some readers may find offensive.
First Man Standing (FMS) builds on a campaign launched by Restored in 2011. It is endorsed by:
White Ribbon UK which is part of a global White Ribbon movement of men working to end violence against women.
Restored which is an alliance of Christian organisations working to transform relationships and end violence against women.
